Choosing Wisely is an initiative of the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation to help health care providers and patients engage in conversations about the overuse of tests and procedures and support provider efforts to help patients make smart and effective care choices. To spark these conversations, national medical specialty societies have created evidence-based lists of “Five Things Physicians and Patients Should Question.” By early 2014, more than 30 specialty societies will have announced their lists. To engage patients in these important conversations, the ABIM Foundation has partnered with Consumer Reports to provide patient-centered resources.
