Oregon OSHA has adopted the federal OSHA amendments published in January 18,
2001 for Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
New requirements for employers: Employers must ensure that exposure control
plans:
- Reflect changes in technology to reduce or eliminate bloodborne pathogen
exposures
- Document annual consideration and implementation of commercially available
safer medical devices
- Include provisions for employees to take part in the identification,
evaluation and selection of engineering controls (including safer medical
devices) and work practice controls related to potential bloodborne pathogen
exposures.
Oregon also adopted Oregon specific provisions that provide for greater
employee input and training in the use of safer medical devices. See,

Sharps Injury Log: Oregon also requires employers to establish and maintain a
contaminated sharps injury log. See, OAR 437-002-1035 for more
details.
