Dec. 6, 2006 - Larry Mullins, DHA, president and CEO of Samaritan Health Services Inc. in Corvallis, OR, will be the 2007 chair of the AHA Section for Health Care Systems, the AHA announced today. The section represents health systems across the country and helps the association with policy development and governance. SHS, a non-profit network of hospitals, physicians, senior care facilities and health plans serving roughly 250,000 residents in western Oregon, has under Mullins’ leadership supported free clinics and medication assistance to the needy and ensured open access to all patients in SHS clinics and hospitals. Mullins is a fellow and regent for Oregon with the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves as the immediate past chair of the Oregon Association of Hospitals & Health Systems. Michael Rock, chief medical officer and medical director of the Mayo Rochester Hospital in Rochester, MN, will chair the section in 2008.
