The awards presented included:

  • Rural Hospital Quality Leader:  This award was presented to Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center in Bandon, Oregon, for demonstrating outstanding performance in overall quality outcomes and patient safety culture.

  • Outstanding Community Partner: This award was presented to Samaritan Lebanon Hospital in Lebanon, Oregon, for its outstanding commitment and leadership in the community to improve health outcomes

  • Leader in Innovative Excellence:  This honor was given to Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon, for its innovative solutions to improve health access, cost containment and quality.

Additionally, Senator Ted Ferrioli of John Day was recognized as Oregon's Rural Health Champion for his continued work to advocate on behalf of Oregon’s 36 rural hospitals in the Oregon Legislature.

"This year's recipients show tremendous promise for the future of rural health care in our state," commented Linda Lang, director of rural health services for OAHHS.  "In addition to the recipients, all the rural hospitals in our state that are working collaboratively to improve access and outcomes should be commended."
