Waldo Named to Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award
Diane Waldo, director of quality and clinical services for the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) has been named to the 2010 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The Board of Examiners provides advice and guidance to the Baldrige Panel of Judges in selecting the annual Baldrige Award recipients.
"This prestigious appointment is a tremendous honor that recognizes Diane's leadership in the arena of hospital clinical quality. The experience Diane will gain with the Baldrige Award will also inform her collaborative work around continued quality improvement activities through the hospital association. Our collaborative programs have been recognized at a national level and are becoming a model for excellence in other states," stated Andy Davidson, president and CEO of OAHHS.
The Baldrige National Quality Program annually seeks a board of experts capable of evaluating organizations eligible for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and willing to serve as representatives of the Award Program. The Award Program includes six eligibility categories: manufacturing, service, small business, health care, education and nonprofit. Category coverage and balance are important factors in selecting the Board of Examiners' members. The goal is to ensure broad representation from many industries, companies, and organizations including those from for-profit, nonprofit, and public sectors.

"The lessons learned through this process will be applied to the work we are doing on a daily basis with our member hospitals in developing high-quality, patient centered programs and best practices."
